Fall Newsletter 2015

Well, the gardening season sure flew by this year, and from the looks of things everyone had success with their harvests. It’s quickly coming up on time to close up the garden for the season. A few things need to be done to put it to bed for the winter. Please note that water delivery has now ended for the season.

Help with the compost
To make space for the garden waste from all of our plots, Marc needs help with the compost.  Materials need to be moved along from one composter to another. As well, a front needs to be added to one of the bins. Anyone able to help with this task, please contact Marc at cramcasas@hotmail.com.

Cleaning out the garden beds
Please make sure your garden plot is emptied out and weeds are removed from around your plot by the end of October. Non-weed materials can go in the composter once the work mentioned above is done. Weeds can be placed in the garbage bins marked “WEEDS”.

Dirt for your garden plot
There is still extra dirt on the ground at the front of the garden near the picnic table. Please help yourself if you need to top up the level in your garden.

Recording your donations
Don’t forget to track your produce donations. One of the conditions of our lease with the City of Yellowknife is that each garden plot donates ¼ of its yield to a registered charity organization. Please track your donation using the online form. There is a list of organizations on the page.

A big thank you to Bromley and Sons
Once again, a big thank you this season to Bromley and Sons for supplying our water for the garden. By way of thanks, gardeners dropped off a large basket of produce and goodies to the water depot. We couldn’t do it without you, Bromley and Sons!
