Garage sale, workshops and more!

Even though we’re still a few weeks away from planting, preparations are well under way for the 2014 gardening season. The remaining soil for the garden and some chickenpoop fertilizer should be delivered soon.

Some of the behind-the-scenes happenings include sourcing a water tank and water delivery system, a shed and fencing for the garden. These items do cost money, so if anyone has leads on where we can find them for little or no cost, please let us know.

There are also a number of great workshops planned over the next few weeks, and don’t miss your chance to participate in our annual Garage Sale. Read on for more details!

Welcome to the Trails End Community Garden!

Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and supporters, the Trails End Community Garden will be ready for planting this spring!

There are twelve full plots available. Priority has been given to those who expressed interest in a garden plot this season at the Trails End Community Association AGM last fall, and who have contributed to the project already. These households have already been notified by email.

The deadline to respond for those already notified is APRIL 15, 2014. Depending on interest, after this date there may be a few garden plots still available. We’ll provide information in early April to advise everyone of the status. Please let us know at trailsendgarden@gmail.com if you’re interested in having your name put on the list for a plot.

Prices for the plots are as follows:

Full plot (200 sq ft)       $60  (available to households with two or more gardeners)
Half plot (100 sq ft)      $30  (available to individuals)
*NOTE: Only one full garden plot available per household

In addition, gardeners must be members in good standing of the Trails End Community Association:

Household membership   $40
Individual membership     $20

Plot fees and membership fees are used to pay for annual and ongoing expenses, such as insurance, land lease and water.

HOW DO I SHOW MY SUPPORT EVEN IF I’M NOT GARDENING?
Even if you’re not interested in a garden plot, or end up on the waiting list, please consider supporting us by becoming a member of the Trails End Community Association. This year, your support will be commemorated in the form of a beautiful painted wooden flower with your name on it at the garden site, and a sampling of produce.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY TRAILS END COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP?
Drop off your application form and payment to Dawn Curtis, 32A Trails End Crescent, or Isabel Gauthier, 5 Trails End Crescent. You can pay by cash, cheque (to Trails End Community Association) or by email transfer to trailsendgarden@gmail.com.
